We are looking to expand our team of software specialists with a Junior Tester. For this junior position, we are looking for someone with some experience in IT, either by education or work experience. You are welcome to apply even if you don’t have software testing experience, because your colleagues will be teaching you the best way to test our software, as well as everything you need to know about Cocon Fiber, our fiber optics registration software. In addition, you will have the opportunity to take training courses for certification in TMAP, ISTQB, or similar.
Who are we?
Speer IT is the market leader in the Netherlands for fiber optics registration software. We provide high quality fiber optics registration solutions with extensive capabilities that are easy for customers to use and flexible by design.
Cocon Fiber, which is our fast and user-friendly registration application, is already the market standard in the Netherlands and is now used more and more by large multinational telco companies. Speer IT is leading the way in fiber optics, and we want to keep it that way! That is why our 50+ experienced professionals put a lot of passion and energy into continuously improving our products and services. Speer IT works with people who want to help make a difference for our customers. Personal development, commitment, and taking the initiative are the key characteristics of our team members.
What will you be doing?
Testing! Our developers are always working on the continuous improvement and optimization of our applications. They are experts with years of experience, but even they can sometimes miss something. And because Speer IT puts quality above all else, every piece of software needs to be tested before we hand it over to our customers! This means we need someone with a great eye for detail, who can test our applications thoroughly before they are rolled out.
What’s also good to know is that you will eventually be given your own customer portfolio, which means you will be in the loop on every aspect of specific customer projects, from the kick-off to the final phase. You will decide the test strategy and then perform and evaluate the tests. Of course, you will need to document and report the results of the tests.
In addition to the end-to-end testing of our applications, you will also be involved in making test plans, developing new (automated) tests, and contributing to the progress of the Sprint in your SCRUM team. You will also support your colleagues in the development of our Speer IT solutions by making the testing process as clear as possible (in advance) in Jira. If you already have some automation experience, it would also be great if you can test web services and applications with SOAPUI and Selenium, for example.
The job brings more than just a challenge:
- Excellent salary appropriate to your experience level
- Good secondary employment benefits, such as a pension plan and travel allowance
- Temporary contract with a view to a permanent position
- 28 days of annual vacation (or full-time equivalent) and a chance to earn 4 extra bonus days per year
- Lunches are on the house
- Possibilities for further education and training (for example: TMAP or ISTQB)
Here’s what you need to have:
- Good communication skills
- Good command of the Dutch language, both written and spoken
- Accuracy and strong analytical skills
- Preferably some experience in testing desktop applications
- Additional experience with Jira, C#/.NET and working in a SCRUM/agile environment is an advantage
