Speerworks is a subsidiary of Speer IT, the leading developer in the Netherlands of software solutions to help customers build, register, and manage their fiber optic networks. A single application conveniently contains all of their network data, from the exact location of cables under the ground to the routing of customer connections. This application, called Cocon Fiber, is the market standard for fiber optics registration. As a consultant for Speerworks, you will be THE specialist who can help our (international) customers use Cocon Fiber in the smartest and most efficient way possible. 

Who are we? 

Speerworks is responsible for the consulting and interim activities at Speer IT. We are a young, informal team within a fast-growing IT company that offers plenty of career opportunities. The company is situated in Baarn, in the Netherlands, but our customers are located across Europe.

The Speerworks team consists of consultants at various skill levels as well as project leaders. Together, we deliver tailor-made support for Speer IT’s customers. When you work for one of our customers, you are your own manager, analyst, problem-solver, and administrator. It’s a lot of different responsibilities in a single job description, but that’s what makes this work so interesting.  

Who are we looking for? 

As an IT consultant, you are the primary point of contact for the project, so most of your work will be done on location at our customers’ offices. Your job is to support our customers through implementations and in working with Cocon Fiber. In addition, you may occasionally be asked to work in the Speer IT offices in Baarn. 

In this position, you are in constant contact with others. One minute you might be advising the management team and five minutes later, answering a question from a user. So, excellent communication skills are a must. You are also someone who is very flexible and can switch gears quickly to adapt to all sorts of situations the project might present.  

Despite the daily work with IT products, you do not necessarily need to have an IT background. Some work experience and a willingness to learn about our solutions is all you need, as we will provide the necessary training. Working in Cocon Fiber involves some quite complex subjects, so there is no expectation of you being fully operational from day one. Don’t know something? Don’t hesitate to ask! We do expect you to learn quickly and take the initiative, so a proactive attitude is a must.

Here’s what you need to have:

• Minimum of completed higher education (HBO)
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent knowledge of the Dutch and English languages, with additional knowledge of German or French being an advantage.
• Dutch driver’s license (B rating)
• No problems with traveling to and working at customer locations
